Just got a neat new (to me) motherboard in from @UltraMega actually. Old 775 board that takes P4's and Pentium D's, and a couple Conroe C2D chips (very few). AGP board though!!! I do need to actually repair the board, there's one blown cap on there that needs attention before I want to power it up. These AGP 775 boards, ESPECIALLY ones that support Core 2 at all, are actually kinda hard to find. Should be a good board for hwbot stuffs later once I get it recapped.

That's a really terrific looking case! Never would have even looked at BeQuiet cases. Thanks for covering this Mr. Fox!

Did someone say 939? @Avacadoif you need a copy of clockgen, I think I still have the copy I used decades ago ON socket 939 stashed away somewhere on my NAS. I'm probably not going to break any records on 939, my CPU's I have all suck. 2.9GHz at best. I could try a single core out though, I've got like 6 of those laying around I haven't even tried yet.

AMD Retreating from Enthusiast Graphics Segment with RDNA4?

Fair enough, I can understand that point. My apologies for throwing things slightly OT. -
AMD Retreating from Enthusiast Graphics Segment with RDNA4?
pio replied to GanjaSMK's topic in Hardware News
Dude, nobody here is an AMD fanboi? Nobody here is even defending AMD on these actions (or even condemning them), we're just talking about it. I mean I GUESS you could say I am, "kinda". Since I have a collection of ATI / AMD cards dating back to the Radeon 7500 up to the current 6900XT realm (haven't bought a 7900 yet). Does that make me an AMD fanboi though? I have Nvidia cards too, and I love them just as equally. It just wasn't as easy to create a collection of Nvidia with all the Ti's and Titans mucking up the lineup making it more difficult to buy a top tier card of every gen. Plus the Nvidia tax, even on older stuff....yeah. -_- I'm a hardware lover in general, I don't take sides. I'm pretty darn sure that 99.99% of our website feels similar about hardware. Nobody is specifically a "fanboi" on this site. We're all here because we love hardware. Just wanted to address that, because that type of mentality and thinking is exactly why I left OCN. -
You're not using that Cooler Master PSU again are you? A bad PSU could potentially effect your boost algorithms.

AMD Retreating from Enthusiast Graphics Segment with RDNA4?
pio replied to GanjaSMK's topic in Hardware News
I certainly hope not. Maybe it means something different with RDNA4? I thought AMD was working on chiplet type designs for the next gen of GPU's? If they were, it wouldn't be difficult at all to make top end cards. Both AMD and Nvidia need to take a look at current pricing structures though. I get inflation and all that jazz, but this is getting ridiculous when GPU's have appreciated in value over a decade more so than new cars or houses percentage wise. So in THAT sense, I'd hope to see both companies come out of that realm. -
The funny thing is, the problem I mentioned could easily be mitigated by using a 90* angled connector....which does exist I'm sure. Oh wait, they do....its already on GPU's. If they put the straight motherboard connectors shown here on the RTX 4090's with the cables pointed downward (or upward would maybe be easier) instead of directly at the side panel, that'd solve the problem on the GPU. Put the 90* connector on the backside of the mobo, so the cables can be ran parallel with the board (up or down either way, probably downward since most PSU's are down). Now, neither cable would be bent too near the connector, and no more fire hazards. But what do I know, I'm not an engineer so obviously I don't know the difference......

Show your oldest piece of HW you still use
pio replied to Memmento Mori's topic in Chit Chat General
This isn't my oldest working, but its my oldest working that I daily drive still. I actually use this rig a LOT just playing around in Win9X. Definitely my favorite older build to play with. -
I take back my previous promise, but only with a teeny tiny update. For anyone with the v1.30 pack, you can auto download off the server or download the update only. Map pack remains unchanged until v1.40 now. Added: Wingeon - The Flying Wigeon 1.0 P-Series 1.1 Was just a couple neat new mods that were added to the repository that looked absolutely great, and turned out to be just that. Definitely would suggest trying the Wingeon out if anybody wants to try flying in Beam. And the P-Series is absolutely adorable. Links: Beam MP Mods Pack v1.31 BeamMP Mod Pack v1.30 - 1.31 Update Washington state servers are ONLINE and verified working.

Okay, unfortunately after doing some testing on the servers, I actually had to remove 4 mods, so I had to update the pack AGAIN. I promise, I'm done for a while this time. Removed: Wheel Spacers Dirty 4x4 Map Lucas Oil Speedway Map Wild West Motorsports Map The wheel spacers mod was causing a no load issue on the servers (but worked fine in single player testing). Huge bummer as the spacers were super useful building offroad monsters for the new Gambler500 themed maps. The 3 maps I removed nobody ever used anyway and were taking up space. Corrected (and final working) Links: Beam MP Mods pack v1.30 Beam MP Maps pack v1.3x (optional but suggested) Washington state servers are ONLINE and verified working.

Tempting, but I'm pretty happy with my 5800x. I mean I want an upgrade, but I'd think a 7800x or 7900x would be a more suitable upgrade for me at this point personally. Definitely a solid choice for somebody with a lesser core part or an older AM4 platform and wanting a good cheap upgrade without jumping to AM5.

Map pack had some errors uploading apparently, so re-uploading it tonight. Also added Alzan Trails, somehow that got omitted from my 1.20 pack update, it was supposed to be in there. So correcting that, links will be fixed tomorrow. EDIT: Map pack fixed, version 1.20 of my mod/map pack is now live on my google drive, links above and in the OP.

WA State servers are now ONLINE! Again, please make sure you DELETE ALL MODS (follow the readme file for directories). Unless you have personal mods you want to keep. I went ahead and split up the pack to separate the maps and the mods into different zipped files, so you guys don't need to download the maps if you don't WANT to. If you're missing the map on the server you're joining, it'll have to download through the game. I would still suggest downloading the mod pack, so you're not at the mercy of my 10 mbps upload speeds. Downloads: BeamMP Mod Pack v1.20 Optional (except for servers): BeamMP Map Pack v1.20 New additions: Brake Glow Mod 2.3 Monstertruck Wheels 1 Realistic Headlights 1.28 Spaced Out: Wheel Spacers 22 Alzan Trails 1.0 Removed: Utah Snow Map West Coast USA Snow Map

Crucial T700 PCIe Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD Review Discussion
pio replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Review Discussions
Oh absolutely! Personally, I have probably at least that many BX500's myself. I have like 15 or 16 machines, and most of them have 2.5" SSD's in them. Every 2.5" SSD in the house is a BX500 lol. I have every size available from the 120GB ones to the 2TB ones, multiples of each. These Gen5 drives, I personally probably won't bother with until AM5's refresh. But its very nice seeing these kind of blazing speeds available today. -
Crucial T700 PCIe Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD Review Discussion

Sounds like an absolutely amazing SSD from Crucial on this one. Way to go Crucial, and amazing job @Mr. Fox covering the product! -
I have a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 that I scored at a thrift store for like $7 that'll do exactly what you're looking for, so I'd say look for something like that used. It's a PCI card, but the problem is drivers, I think it'll only support up to Win7? But it has the RF / coaxial ins and outs, RCA ins, all sorts of options. Use that and the line in on your sound card for audio, and you can use OBS to record. I think the manufacturer had their own software too, but OBS should work.

Servers are all OFFLINE as of right now. Due to the latest BeamNG.drive official 0.29 Gambler 500 update, figured we'd add some new maps into the rotation, and make sure the rest of the mods are all up to date and functional with the latest version. They SHOULD hopefully all be back online soon, and I will update the thread when done so. We're also awaiting the latest "EHW Mod Pack" for Beam to finish uploading to google drive as well, so that will be linked as well here once complete so everyone can update their mod packs. Updated Mods: Toy Building Block Car 1.0 JATO and Ram Plow for Everything 2.4 Backyard Kart 0.15 'Homebuilt' Compact Buggy 0.93 D-Series Configurations, Engines, Intakes, and Transmissions Pack 3.2 2022 Procyon Centauri 1.0.8 Indestructible Engine Blocks & Adjustable NOS 3.9 Gavril Vertex NA2 3.35 Rework Stambecco Pack 1.22 Motorsports Playground .27.1 OGC Map - Ultimate Beam.NG Map | 0.27 Compatible 0.80 Hirochi Prasu (CRGZ Revamp) Player Weapons and Guns v2.2 Cherrier Vivace/Tograc Wagon 3.02 New Mods: Extra Vanilla wheels for normal hubs 2.2 Angry Cheese Wedge 3 Dangerous Roads V1.0 Downhill Mayhem 1.03 Downhill Destruction 1.13 Downhill Endurance 1.1 Ultimate Obstacle Course 1.0 Eastern Oregon, USA 1.0 Moab, Utah 1.01 Now, due to the fact that I removed some lesser used mods out of the rotation, some mods were no longer available so found alternatives, we went ahead and did a full on update to the mod pack. So please remove ALL mods (unless you have personal ones you want to keep) before copying the new mod pack over. Again, I will update again once the mod pack is uploaded and the servers are back online. Happy racing everyone!
