  1. Needs moar Samsung WonderRAM. Man, I miss those sticks. Those Mushkins should be pretty solid too though. Timings are meh, but RAM is RAM really. DDR3 systems can still keep up on daily and gaming tasks with DDR4 systems, so really doesn't matter that terribly much. Of course if you're shooting for benching, you'll eventually want some tighter timing sticks, but yeah those are going to go very nicely on that setup! Awesome update!
  2. I have other burners too. I doubt I'll be burning CD's on a 1.1GHz Athlon with Windows 98 (eventually) anyway. So yes, that particular drive was purely because I wanted it. Look at it! It's still sealed in the box (missing manual). I did check the listing very well, the plastic is still sealed inside.
  3. Besides my already existing boards that Bones already has in the mail for me, I have a HUGE update of new parts on their way from various ebay stores. I should have all of my current "museum" retro rigs done by end of January. Only thing I'm missing now not ordered is 2 fan controllers (maybe 3), some fan Y splitters, one case and fan setup, and a full K6 rig. I'll be missing I think 2 sound and LAN cards too for the Socket A rigs, those might help, but not really "needed" to run them. So on payday I'll be ordering fan controllers and Y splitters so I can finish what I have here ready. It's looking like I "should" actually be able to have all these completed by April! I also bought a couple new goodies for the existing "completed" rigs. Just minor updates and replacing stuff that's broken.
  4. I guess I should've included more info, could you add my 2 to the list please? AJazz DKM150, Cherry MX Brown switches, fullsize, white LED Redragon Kumara K552N, Cherry MX Blue switches, TKL, various salvaged black and grey keycaps
  5. Just ordered this and a ton of other retro goodies!
  6. Of course the CPU wasn't seated all the way...... Just my luck there.
  7. Ahh okay, so then my Redragon is a TKL MX Blue board. My ajazz Chinese board is a fullsize with MX Browns. Yes, I do absolutely love the "crispness" as you called it. The MX Brown board is fine, but I'm constantly just pounding keys because I can't tell by touch when they actuate. The MX Blues I can feel the switch click. Maybe I should be looking for a fullsize wireless MX Blue board, and maybe just put some o-rings on it? Wireless is because I'm planning on a swinging monitor mount on my 49" here in the next few months, so that way I can move my setup on my L desk to suite my needs of the day. I fully understand wired is better, but I hate being tied down to one spot on my desk. I'll look into the Tab90, sounds like a neat board regardless. Dunno if I'll buy one, I'm clumsy enough on a full size lol. I've seen a lot of people run slim boards though, and not gonna lie....they are attractive.
  8. How about removing the starting date and last updated counters from the "latest" part of the page, and instead put them down a line when you highlight, under what's already there? For example, this thread, if you hover your mouse over it would say: This would save almost half of the vertical space of each item in the latest items sections to the naked eye. And those particular dates and times aren't exactly relevant since they're being shown in the "latest" sections in order of bump as is. Just another idea, not sure if it'd be supported by everyone else or not. It might end up feeling like "too much" when you highlight too, so not sure without actually seeing it in action anyway.
  9. I just hover my mouse over them and it shows the full title, but yes they are a little short here too.
  10. Very interesting stuff. Been keeping my eye on this for a while, still not sure how I feel about it lol. On one hand, what they're proposing is just, wow. Seeing the beginning of the universe...... But on the other hand, how's this going to affect things outside of science? Is this going to prove creationism, the big bang theory, or any other explanation to how the universe was created? I mean, what are they actually going to see with this thing? Don't get me wrong, I think this is fantastic, and hopefully it'll help answer some questions that are older than a millennium. But....guess we'll see! I'm just not sure that humanity is ready for something like this, but I hope I'm wrong on that.
  11. Something not mentioned yet...... Recommendation guides! On some *cough* other forums *cough cough*, there used to be AMD VRM guides, PSU guides, keyboard guides, audio guides, all SORTS of good content that would help people that were in the market to buy something tech related. I think buyers guides with reviews of stuff would be fantastic. I'd venture to say it'd probably be something useful if stickied in every sub forum. I'd even be willing to offer to help as best I can, but sadly I don't get too much new stuff in these days anymore so I'm probably not the best of choice for it lol. I'm usually moreso looking for used junk sales. I usually just google that stuff anymore, but honestly I don't trust half the click bait pages that end up popping up. Good, honest, tech interested people would make 1000x better buyers guides than what's available with simple web searches.
  12. Okay, so I think we need a writeup or a mech keyboard guide if you will..... Personally, I'm using an ajazz full keyboard with MX Brown switches. Was super cheap off Amazon, like 40 bucks. I'm not complaining, for the price its been a fantastic cheap POS keyboard. I also use a Redragon 60%? (10 keyless but otherwise full sized) board with MX Blue switches on it on my test bench. Really REALLY miss my old OCN Ducky, but the USB plug on it came unsoldered and I stupidly tossed it years ago. Anybody got any recommendations on another good board? I love the MX Blue feel, but I dislike the noise. I was hoping these browns would be close, but they're just not. Not at all lol. Full sized preferred, wireless would be even better if there's any good wireless ones. Been looking for a while, might buy a new one after Christmas.
  13. Let me sum it up VERY simply..... Snake oil! There's a sucker born every minute though EDIT: Hey, look at that. They say so in the article too!

I think that was me, but you know.....being lazy boomers and all I can't be futzed to scroll up. I do NOT get by without coffee, that was the joke. First thing I usually do upon awakening is go for some good old java. I was, for some odd reason, browsing EXHW that morning before my coffee. -_- Do not recommend btw.
  15. Merry Christmas E! Little early for it, but whatever. And a happy holidays to anyone that doesn't celebrate Christmas. Don't forget to PUT DOWN the phones and electronic devices this year, enjoy your families everyone!
  16. Gotcha. I wasn't sure, but figured I'd try to help anyway lol. The timings on those are pretty tight, you might need more voltage to the IMC perhaps? Idk, all my setups (so far) have the IMC on die so my old tinkering is a tad different than what you're playing with. As others stated already, the X5470 is absolutely one of the best Xeons you can mod into these old 775 boards. It's a 333 / 1333 FSB chip with a 10x multiplier. Very easy 400 FSB to get to 4GHz with it. Good 775 boards can do ~450-500 FSB. That 10x multi really does help a TON. I had mine at 4.2GHz on a 965p board on a proper loop back when I did it. And I saw that picture of the rig together. Holy brick man! That's one CHUNKY rig!!!
  17. It's probably the TPN thing yeah. It wasn't a requirement for 10, so nope its not on.
  18. Extremely early DDR3 memory controller. Did the Core 2 boards even run DDR3 1600 speeds? I thought it was the original Core i7's that first started hitting 1600 speeds with Intel? Maybe try 1333 speeds to see if its a board limitation? I don't know for sure, I never ran DDR3 on the Core 2 systems.
  19. I don't think the requirements changed any, my sig rig still doesn't' qualify.

Adults made their way here? Where?
  21. I can't wait. I've been just ITCHING to put together one of the Socket A rigs even though my 939'er isn't quite complete yet lol.

Welcome! I'm not sure why we're all here, but I like here better than there. Makes sense to my non coffee'd brain right now.
  23. So, the Socket A CPU......don't worry about it. I have a 1100MHz T-Bird, and a 2500+M sitting here I intended on using. The Palimino was an extra. The board was the big concern on that one, as its a MUCH better board to actually use on a Socket A setup over the ECS I have sitting here of the same era. The 1100MHz T Bird will go in that board. The 939 boards..... The good chipset cooler board with the Asus logo, is in fact the one I bent in half too roughly and assumed busted traces. It had previously been capable of high FSB speeds. I assumed bad traces because I couldn't get it to boot. However, now after playing with this good 939 board I still have here at the house, that very well could've just been user error because this board was doing the same thing. I had to unhook all other drives FIRST, then it'll boot. Oops. Sooooooo, if that board DOES in fact work, that'll actually end up being the second board that'll be in use. The A8N Premium will be the other. The other 32 laned board was just a happy accidental buy, it came in a case I bought without any regard for what was inside.
  24. Well, I wasn't originally trying to go straight to WAN, I was just simply trying to port forward through the VPN. When that didn't work, I setup the second LAN as a backup idea so I could still game on my main rig. It just leaves my entire server behind the firewall, and not accessible outside of the house.
  25. I had almost 4 million for 5 minutes. I'd have attempted to cash out had I seen it.
