On another note chaps, looks like MSI are going to implement GDM after my discussions with them. However they are asking about a screenshot of where in the BIOS you would enable "Round Trip Latency", could someone do me a favour and screenshot their BIOS page with this and pop it in here ? I can then go back to them on this as well and see what they say. 

 

Still beyond me that consumers are having to tackle a vendor about basic settings.

...almost finished with 'operation integrate' of the Aorus 670E Master / 7950X3D into my dual-mobo 'daily' setup. This was very tricky as this X670E board is the wider e-ATX format which replaced a regular ATX mobo that used to reside there (talk about tight quarters! 😬 ).

 

The insert pics show
a.) the Arctic P12 pst right above the DDR5, and
b.) the bank of three 480 x 64 triple copper core rads (push-pull fans, three D5s) that cool the 670E/7950X3D combo. The system on the lower right (X570 Dark.H./ 5950X) has a similar but slightly smaller-capacity loop (three 360x63 rads, two D5s).

I will try and see if those areas shed any light, though I think I have been through them but it is possible I missed it. 

 

On another note while I did get 6400MT/s stable, I thought just for a laugh, I would try my hand at 6600 MT/s again using the same timings as on my 6400 OC. With a little bit of additional voltage I was able to get 6600 through 4 Hours of GSAT and 11000% of Karhu before it gave me an error. So I am upping the VDDQ to 1.42 and DRAM Voltage to 1.57 with a SOC of 1.255 to see if it gets me stable.

 

My 6400 OC - VDDQ 1.35,  VDD 1.55, SOC 1.25

Hey E, if you haven't already, set tREFI to 65535.

 

On Asus boards, doing so gives like a MASSIVE bandwidth improvement, like 10GB/sec more than if you don't set it that way.

 

I know you don't have an Asus board but it might be worth trying it to get your Read and Write bandwidth above 90GB/sec.

you can also manually set TSME disabled (if you can find it, and for huge bandwidth increase you always want to have the optimal CPU curve optimizer , or at least close to optimal for max CPU boost in the test. or for non X3D set manula CPU OC!! I was trying for max clock on my 7800X3D and got DDR5-8580 just now with 110 bclk and 7800 strap!

Yeah disabled TSME a while ago on your advice I think 🙂

 

Once I have locked in my RAM OC I will come back here to optimise my CPU with Curve Optimizer for sure 🙂

Wth? How stable is it? I know some Intels can't even boot at 7600MHz. 

 

I can boot at 6400MHz at stock timings but i wait for new AGESA to REALLY tweak the kit as of now its not worth it and the Gigabios they provided for my board is utterly erratic. 

 

Anyway, for 24/7 usage i think tight 6000MHz to 6400MHz is the way to go as far as i seen and is doable for most systems. 

 

Can you share your 8580 settings? Im curious.

its surprizingly 'stable' i can open benchmate and do all kinds of benchmarks with over DDR5-8400. I wouldnt dare to run a stresstest becasuse i just upped the voltages to extreme level. I did try a normal voltage and tighter timings a few times and that also works just fine, but then again its only in benchmarks and not a stresstest. I could go browsing with 110 bclk and 8560 and upload a score to hwbot, pretty amazing

1.7 V is a bit too scary for my non-bencher setup; the 7600 kit currently runs at 1.425 V for 8000 and stock timings (CL36). I am going to try up to 1.55 V for short runs. I am also going to keep an eye out for a good DDR5 water-cooling block.

....double-post, but...I managed to hit DDR 8200 at stock primary timings w/o much pain 😃; just upped DDR voltage to 1.5 V from my daily 8000 settings at 1.425+-. Browsing around and loading up various programs wasn't a problem at 8200, though I save benchies for later; and I certainly don't think that it is fully stable w/o some other adjustments - still, this US$ 200 2 x24 GB 7600 CL36 kit keeps on giving. It can range from CL 30 6400 (1.40 V DDR) to CL 36 8200 (1.5 V) and > ?

Well this is my 6400MT/s & 6600MT/s OC 

 

Curiously the 6600 OC has a worse Pi Score. So Even though it passed 4 Hours of GSAT and 15000% of Karhu I can only assume an instability or other factor causing it to be worse

Does DDR5's pseudo ECC report/fix errors like "real" ECC? Check Event Viewer.

Those timing values are currently set to Auto, that is likely why the variance between the two ZenTimings for 6600 & 6400.  But fair point, I may set that to 11 for the 6600 profile as 10 may be too tight.

 

I have looked in event viewer, I have not noted and errors relating to memory correction or WHEA errors.

DDR5's "ECC" is on-die so it might just be fixing it and not reporting it to Windows. 

 

CMD/Terminal -> wmic memphysical get memoryerrorcorrection

 

If it returns 0, 1, 2, or 3 then Event Viewer wouldn't be able to tell you about corrected errors. if it's correcting errors in the background it'd make sense that it's passing stability tests and performing worse in benchmarks though.
