...the best it can do for now with 1 Gbps router and switches. Building backbone and my mobos currently are at 2.5 Gbps, and I put in Cat8 wiring (also for future reference), but need to get a new router and switches first.

I get about 7.5 Mbps down and 512 Kbps up if I'm lucky. I won't run a speedtest as it kills my connection with the upload tests. Spectrum I refuse to go back to after 3 years of lying to me. So staying stuck with junk dsl, hey at least they're honest about my charges. Switching to a LTE connection hopefully next week to mitigate the problems and I'll bridge the two connections.

I've got symmetrical gig from Verizon. Rarely see those speeds anymore, steam no longer saturates it.

I'd post a speedtest but I'm on WiFi and it's sucking.

I pay for 500 down a month but usually get over 600 down, especially through steam.  My upload is a disaster though and is usually at 25 so I'm not sure why it's this bad considering it's about 5am.image.png.de8e29d85b1694fb5b48dee151193ee6.png

my internet/phone is roughly $70 after the discounts we weaseled out of them, then we applied the FCC's affordable connectivity program to the account and THAT gave us $35 credit towards our internet every month. So,base rate is now under $35 a month for the following speeds and unlimited Long distance ph. (We DO get random service drops and starts which are annoying as f@&k but it may be because of my wifi not being set up well, and too many things between router and systems.)

First shot is test taken from source 50 miles away from independent server.

Second shot is test taken from Suddenlink server roughly 400 miles away.         Though it says my service is still Suddenlink, they were bought up by Optimum in my area.Even the new modem I got has Optimum name on it.  All test using Speed test with 7 tabs open besides the speedtest tab. in FireFox.

Switched to Xfinity back in January. CenturyLink wanted to downgrade me and I said enough was enough with them.

This is a $65/month for now with their promotions.

Can't post my test since I'm at work, but I live in western North Carolina, Pisgah/Brevard area, and I only get 30mbps at my house. Not 300, not 3000, but 30. And less than 10, mostly less than 5, for up. DSL, which apparently wasn't even supposed to be run to my house as its 500 feet outside the service area but a rogue att tech apparently ran it a few years ago. Like when i first moved in and made an appointment, they canceled because they said they didn't serve my address. I had to tell them that the previous home owner had been using them, and they came back. Hasn't been a huge issue as I'm mostly just a gamer, don't need much bandwidth. I just have a fair amount of drive space and I make sure to keep most of my games updated and installed.

Love that area of NC... I used to go to Graveyard Fields near there to hike and escape the heat in the valley on hot days.  Spent a many days at Looking Glass Falls too, well until it got to crowded by tourists anyway.  Alas, I had to move out in the late 90's though... still wouldn't mind coming back though, but I'm a bit too settled in here now.

I've been here about 6 years now, I enjoy it. Originally from an hour north of Atlanta. Used to live in Asheville the first couple years, which is an apocalyptic wasteland of homelessness and violence and theft, so glad I'm not down there anymore. I work in the Biltmore area, a rich retired old peoples area. And we have hobos sleeping on the sidewalk outside the shop, someone stole a catalytic converter from a coworker in broad daylight during business hours, we had our trailer broken into and a bunch of lawn equipment stolen. We had a $8k bike stolen in January. Whatever you do, don't move to Asheville.

Love my area though, in Hendersonville/Etowah. Quiet, no crime, just slow internet which I'm making work. And half as expensive as Asheville. The Brevard/Pisgah area is awesome

I surprisingly didn't have too bad of internet when I lived on an island in North Carolina. Other parts of the OBX were pretty bad though.

Now I've been spoiled by Gig fiber long enough I don't think I could go back to a slower connection. Actually considering adding a second connection from a different provider since Ubiquiti added Dual WAN load balancing to the UDM Pro.

I'm fairly happy....wish uploads were better....meh....lol Think we are paying for 500 down. Depending on what game client I'm using it's much better normally.

I think we are paying like $90.00/mo for internet and phone(landline). We have 3 cell with 3gb of data/mo that is another $42.00.
