Nice, I thought those came with an LSD stock?

Mk7 didn't, but you could get a warranty friendly Quaife unit fitted by a Mountune garage.

I have a Wavetrac in mine which is a bit more track focused.

How's the Lexus project?

Temporarily abandoned. I don't have anywhere warm to work on it, plus I the rear seat backrest has a bolt that's stuck, it turns but it doesn't come out so I need to pry it out somehow. I've also been busy basically all of summer. I did get some wheels for it so I have a better tyre choice, but they don't fit over the brakes without spacers and with spacers, they stick out an illegal amount so I have to get rid of those wheels now. I think I'll just stick to stock.

Nothing fancy but treats me well so I treat it well. Sorry for glare. Pic is from when I bought a new set of wheels for it and put on the winter tires. May just be a CUV but I love driving this thing. Mazda really knows how to make it feel raw for what it is.

Well I for one can't comfortably fit in an ND (I tried). Pretty sure I wouldn't fit in an NA either.

Lots of familiar faces in here!!!

Since I haven't been active in some time, here's what I've been driving for the last year.  Still a lot of stuff to do to it, as usual.  At least now, I live in a better place so my stuff is usually left alone now. :)

Well I thought I got a descent deal last summer when I bought a 2003 Nissan Frontier. I brought my mechanic and paid him to inspect it before I closed the deal. "Looks great," as he took my money. FFS that truck has been sitting at his shop or dead in my driveway since. Pretty much everything you can think of is wrong with it. I can fix nuclear reactors, or computers, or PLCs, but I am clueless about cars. Always have been. Got it back last night after they "unclogged the cats". I drove it about halfway home and every light in the dash came on, even ABS, seatbelts, and parking brake light. Now this morning it won't turn over. Just Clcckckckckckckckck. Sounds like relay chatter to me so maybe solenoid or something. Battery read 12v on my meter. I tried push starting it since it's a stick and it still wouldn't turn over. I'm about to set fire to it I swear.

Oh no. no. You don't unclog catalytic converters without replacing them. The best you can do is use the bottled temporary bandaid solutions to keep it going for a little bit.

As for the battery you have a parasitic draw somewhere more than likely. Or your battery just had high internal self discharge and needs to be replaced. Depends. Most car batteries are lucky to make it 3 or 4 years so if it's old replacing it can be considered preventative maintenance. Better to do it now than stuck in a parking lot somewhere.

  • 1 month later...

Went on a drive today to do some long-distance errands, absolutely beautiful out, and I took the opportunity to finally get a nice picture of the Alltrack now that it's got the new wheels on it.

Stuff I've done include intake, exhaust, piggyback tune, rear sway bar, coilovers, and VMR V710 wheels and DWS06+ tires. Couple subtle interior and exterior things as well. Very happy with where it is now and I don't plan to do much else until my warranty winds down and then I'll do some dumb stuff for more power. Lower power now keeps me out of trouble though, so that's probably for the best.

That sounds like a really great time. I can't wait to take a vacation this year that isn't spent in quarantine. Went to the beach last year, and the day we arrived, they locked it all down.

I've been lucky with lockdowns and quarantines.  I live out in the sticks, and if I'm not at work, working on one of my vehicles, or messing around with all my machines, I spend my free time out in the back-country.  My life didn't really change once we went on lock down.

I only have one semi-regret, and that is that I backed out of buying a 1999 2.5 RS coupe for my rally build.  The guy was laid off from the lockdown, and just needed cash quick for rent and bills.  I didn't feel right buying the car for 2k, when it was worth at least 3x that.  I was the first one to call and go look at the car; I ended up hooking him up with a job, and he was able to keep the car.  Happy ending for him, but now I'm on the hunt once again to get something to run next season.

Ooooh I like to show off my fleet!  Sorry for the boomer pic,  its the only one I have of the whole fleet.   From left to right:  08 Ford Fusion beater car,  92 Ford Festiva L (stock with upgraded brakes and suspension),   92 Ford Festiva GL (upgraded engine, stock everything else),   85 Dodge D150 /6 4spd, 73 Ford F100.    They all have very specific purposes is what I tell myself and my very patient lady.

Interesting, I know a few Americans who own one. On realoem.com there is no tab "usa" after choosing a touring, so I guess they never sold over there.
