The ac lamp test diode module that i'll be using with my take on rgb showed up today:

diode-module.thumb.jpg.8d5eee8ac169a46003462ff37ca6b598.jpg

The lamp colors are green (nominal), yellow (caution), red (warning), and blue (test), which will indicate whether temps have exceeded certain parameters (gpu/cpu temps; i'm pretty sure i can make that switchable). The lamps will be controlled by an arduino fed signals from the testbench/aquero6xt, and coupled to a relay module which will perform the actual switching of the AC voltage,

I might also add a uva bulb to the side which would give me five total, or gyrbu (e.g., rugby; a Pook™ suggestion).

Yeah, all of it is wild and unique man, love it. I just tell mystic to color change my rad fans to the temps I set. ;)

Looks like I just bought a 6900XT directly from the AMD website for MSRP (plus tax and shipping, total was about $1075) after watching one of those youtube inventory tracking videos.

I made the purchase so quickly that I couldn't update my shipping address and paypal used an older address by default... so now once it actually gets shipped I'll have to hassle the shipping company to either change the delivery address or make sure they hold it at one of their stores for pick up.

Honestly not sure if I'm going to keep it or resell it. Was not looking to get a 6900XT as it's a bit overkill for me and I was hoping to get an nvidia card since they have better features right now, but since it's the only card I've been able to buy so far... I'll probably end up keeping it at least until I can get something else.

@J7SC_Orion Decided to snag some cheap Noctuas to replace my Arctic P12 case fans. The top two P12s cause a really annoying resonance / vibration at med-high RPM. Partly due to the shoddy build quality of the Lian Li 205... but the P12s don't seem to be all that well balanced. You noticed any issues with yours?

...so far 'no', though I don't expect the same quality as Noctua at that price point...so far, I've used up 18 P12s of the 'ample supply I secured' but I do run them at around 50% for now. Also, everything, including the rads, is mounted in a vibration-dampening foam / rubber layer around them.

..I did notice that one of the P12s was turning slower (by about 200 rpm) than all the rest on the same fan hub / fan setting so I put that one aside for other duties...

Yessir I did.  Just pulled the trigger on a HD3870 too.

I want, on hand, a rig from each generation from AMD / ATI.  Down to K6, and up to Ryzen.  I'm slowly getting there, Thuban and FX are going to be expensive still right now, and the K6 gear is expensive.  The rest is actually pretty cheap.  I'd go Intel / Nvidia too but then things get too crazy.

If you're looking for more, I have an ATI 9700 Pro, might still have a HD4850 and either an Athlon Xp 2000 or 1800 (I don't remember which) in an Asus motherboard.

Interested in any HD 5770's? I realize mid-range at the time, but I have a couple.

...I used to have a pair of Asus DCu GTX 670s, and they were a blast...in those days (2012/3) you could still edit the VBios in Notepad after renaming the .rom...Power Limit too low ? No problem...clocks not to your liking ? Fix that asap. Those were the days...sigh

Nowadays with those UEFI VBios, they want to have you arrested if you just look at them the wrong way ?

To be clear, not talking about a 5700 XT. ? These 5770's have been in my parts closet since 2012. ? (But tested recently and work).

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD2900XT 1GB.  Scored this one for $37 I think it was in a bid war.  No thank you to the people above (although an Athlon XP rig is something on my list) on the GPU's.  I'm now only missing the X1950, HD7970, and R9 290x for PCIe GPU's, with the exception missing a 5700XT (I think we all are wanting a high end card lol).

This is getting to be fun hunting down all this tech history.

Yeah, I was ready to ask for a refund from the seller if the package he sent me wasn't here by the end of this month. What with the Pandemic shipping delays the situation was somewhat understandable, but for whatever reasons, items from Germany were taking the longest to get here and items I purchased from countries like Russia and the Ukraine were arriving a lot faster.

...and that was before that container ship got stuck in the Suez 🙂

As for creepy, could be, depending on your pov. I won't be doing any real brain surgery though. OTOH...

Datavac can't get into some of the nooks and crannies, at least not w/o complete disassembly (I rather not; dust is not that bad). Anyhow, general Datavac round as 'final' after all the major nooks and crannies stuff is done ?
