  1. I bought a Corsair Commander Pro, so I have some decent rgb control over my fans. And a few different types of thermal paste, just to see what works best. Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, CoolerMaster Mastergel Pro and some Noctua NT-H2
  2. Just to let you know, I'm running the 3950x now. Decided to go with the ASRock X570 Taichi in combination with 32gb Tridend Z Neo. I'm happy with how it performs, between 350k and 500k folding on 27 threads. And even when I'm gaming, I can still run F@H on 15 threads to keep the cpu somewhat busy ? Thanks for the advice! Oh, on a side note: The 7700k seems to be running a lot better with an AIO 360 on it. Now I'm not sure what the reason is for that, but I see less temperature spikes and the overall temp is a lot lower. I have never tested this, always thought it was caused by the cpu itself. Last time I cleaned the cpu block from the inside and installed it with even better thermal paste, with no luck. Now I'm wondering if the block is flat... But who cares, that block is now a nice paperweight and the 7700k is happy with its new setup!
  3. I don't mind getting a new PSU, cause the one in the second rig is pretty old so I could switch those around. In this case that won't hold me back from buying the 3 series, if the extension cable wouldn't be an option. But first I want to see what it does in benchmarks with all kinds of setups and folding @ home. And if AMD has anything better to offer I might go that way.
  4. Thanks for the update! Good luck with the attempt, I hope it'll work out. I can't wait to see the CFP rig putting out some points ??
  5. Sweet I was away for work, good to see the pc's did what they had to do! Onto the next one ?
  6. Was away for work, but now I changed the second rig to 239902 too. The main rig was already going strong ??
  7. Banned for pointing it out, now it can't be unseen The two of you banned for letting someone get away!
  8. Those are the best deals! I'm looking for a deal like that at home, my provider upped the price and I'm not getting what I'm paying for That's a lot less than what you are paying for.. Same with the internet over here ?
  9. Thanks for the help guys! I'm still not 100% sure what to get, work has been consuming most of my time so I didn't get a chance to figure everything out yet. I need to get the second rig done first anyways, so I have some time to make up my mind. And there is no reason to hurry, besides the fact that I'd like to get rid of this 7700k..
  10. Hey there, I've been looking around for some time and I'm thinking about upgrading to an AMD 3950x. The problem is, I have no idea if this is the right time to upgrade and what'll be a good motherboard and ram to support this processor. I'll be using the processor for folding at home most of the time, and when I'm home I'd like to play some games. It might be a bit overkill, but I don't mind. Budget isn't the biggest concern, as long as I'm happy with the way it does everything I ask. The hardware will go in the "Main 7XL" rig, with watercooling on the processor. Let me know what you guys think, thanks in advance!

    Hello

    Hey there, welcome
  12. At first I thought the same thing about the perspective, but if you take a look at the PCI-E connector and use that as a reference size it's not that long. Not much more total length than the 2080ti I have sitting next to me, and at least 1.5cm less width looking at the rear mounting bracket sitting flush with the PCB.
  13. Interesting design! The PCB looks a bit too small to be honest. Looking at some of the predecessors PCB's I think that with good usage of space they could have been a bit smaller, but not this much. I do like the fan setup though!
  14. Welcome to the 100mil club @Supercrumpet
  15. That's the UK I know, but it's the same over here now. Takes some time before the house cools down though, it gets kinda wet if I open the windows ?
  16. Systems are working as hard as "possible", but I'm trying to keep them on the safe side of boiling temp
  17. We've all been there ? Here is the answer ?
  18. I think most of it has got to do with the price tag. Not sure what it's like in the UK, but over here the main problem is the water level. Extra sound dampening and isolation, strong walls and floor, everything waterproof, that must be expensive. Many of the bigger houses have a basement, but many of the new normal sized houses don't.
  19. Nice! Will the CFP have it's own name on the team? (not sure if that was answered already) Pretty sure that running 6 identical cards will be a lot easier with drivers and software, so I'd go that route too
  20. The room fan helps a lot, makes it feel colder with a little breeze I'm in all the way! Both rigs are running, only a bit of gaming today to end the weekend ? I wish I had a basement, instead I have a one floor apartment with a flat roof. Its always warmer inside than outside.. Hopefully one day I'll have a house with a basement and a 2 car garage, dream big
  21. 25c ambient in the living room, add a few degrees in the computer room. Windows open, room fan blowing and I'm sitting here in my shorts ? The watercooled rig has no problem with the temps, the aircooled one is at mid 70's celcius for the gpu's. Soon those temps will drop too, once the watercooling comes in for the 5700xt's.
