Yea, that was my sub. I had a lot of trouble with that board. I was running a super small resolution and did not expand the details tab. It got yanked. It happens. Believe me, I felt the stress too. I had many things to bench and not enough time to do it without mistakes. To be fair, the rules don't explicitly state that the details tab must be shown (It should state that). I knew better, but I would not expect you to.

You got to show me exactly what so we don't mess that up again. It sounds like some nitpicky crap that any of us could have messed up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that none of my subs get scrutinized. I think I have 4 or 5. I try and do them right, but even after over a decade doing it I still mess them up.

Guys, don't beat yourselves up over it.

All of you went in knowing the hill you faced was steep yet you dared to climb it, that's what counts. Take what you've learned and use it to do better next time.
Again I'll suggest you guys get in on the upcoming Country Cup comp for even more experience, you can't get it any other way so go for it, have fun and I'm sure whomever participates will learn even more by doing it.

I'm definitely not going to beat my self up over it.  It was a good learning experience and some good lessens are learned the hard way.

With that in mind I was bound and determined to get the Corsair XMS2 DDR2-1066 4x2GB ram to run in the Destroyer and in getting it working "had to set timings manually with the OCZ ram before it would post with the corsair.  Oh any way I decided to spend half a day eeking out a little more performance on the iGPU 3DMark06 score.  It was bugging me that I was so close to 4600 3dmarks.  Well two goals accomplished today.  Y'all might wonder why I wanted the corsiar over the ocz.  4gb system ram vs 8gb system ram.

I'm actually quite proud that I subbed every sub for AMD CPU and GPU.  I did a couple memory runs too since I could.  It wasn't much compared to real competitors, but I tortured the snot out of what I could with the equipment I had on hand.  Hey, I at least made it SLIGHTLY more difficult for the leaders, and that's what counts. 🙂  Gotta give the leaders a good run for their time and money.

Besides that, I had a blast torturing equipment again like I used to just for fun.  I definitely don't like taking apart full systems that I already had going....that part sucked.  I think I have 2 systems now with corrupt Windows installs that I'll eventually have to correct, but whatever.  Hopefully next time I join the comps I'll have a little more just "spare" stuff laying around so I don't have to swap CPU's out of a working 20 year old build.

That's the spirit guys.
Don't look back except to remember the lessons learned from it.

I can suggest to everyone, get a test bench like I have - This way you no longer have to bother your PC builds for this and setup/teardown is a snap.

I'd suggest getting one that has the board lying flat on it's back instead of at an angle as many are these days because your choices of cooling methods are limited to just air or water with those that are angled.
One that has the board lying flat allows you to run any cooling method you want including extreme if you ever take a mind to trying it one day.

Kingpin cooling has some in stock to check out if you want. Just know even a cheaper bench will cost a little but you really don't need an expensive one, in fact if you're smart you can actually build one for yourself.

A cardboard box works just the same too, or a piece of wood if you're really cooking things. 🙂

I'll worry about getting proper bench setups done after I'm done with my projects.  This comp was just something I was dragged into, kicking and screaming.  :lachen:Just like I was absolutely forced, with my arms being twisted behind my back to buy parts to torture..... :lachen:

Nah seriously though, like I said from the beginning, I was in it for the fun.  My actual projects are more meaningful to me right at the moment, but once those are done, there's nothing stopping me from going ham on a proper test bench later.  It's not like I don't have shelves of parts just laying around to play with.  I might eventually want to buy some new boards and CPU's and junk, so I have "spares" of the good stuff in my builds.  But again....that can all come later anyway.  Prices of used gear USUALLY just gets cheaper and cheaper anyway, so I'm not in any hurry to go buying more AM3 boards, 939 boards, or even Intel boards to thinker with.  Heck, maybe those will come in slowly over time with more competitions anyway.

I had fun.  I learned and relearned some stuff.  I got some old gear nice and toasty.  Borked a few Windows installs.  Definitely burned some copper.....  Good times......good times. 🙂

Desk and rig is in the bedroom, so really when I get a place that can have a dedicated office is when a test bench will happen.

Hmm...they are not counting my better submission in the DDR4 SuperPI 32M comp?

They still show my 7 min 21 sec sub but I did a 7 min 8 sec sub. Actually might have even had a slightly better sub then this, I don't recall. I remember it was not syncing with my profile.image.thumb.png.12804510d5c2acb804374a5be62500c1.png

Same thing happened with my DDR2 iGPU sub before it was kicked completely.  I learned from that to not submit my entry until I am done and there is no more juice to squeeze out of the hardware.

I'm pretty sure they are working on that, but it sure as .... is not up to nowadays standards. Those on live stream have heard my rants a few times, mostly because of things not working properly 😂

I didn't forget about the prizes, but I've been very busy and tired for the past few days. I'm taking it easy and will draw the winners next weekend 👍

Ok just got a new to me used Ph ii x4 955BE to play with in the Destroyer and fairly easily upped my DDR2 3DMark03 score to over 4800 3dmarks.  Not sure if using a AM3 cpu in a AM2+ mobo with DDR2 1066 ram counts though.

I'm aware lol but still having fun seeing how far I can improve on the DDR2 iGPU score.  (4812 3dmarks)  It's just practice in the mean time.  Still learning my hardware and getting more new to me used cpu's for future HWBot comps 😉  Oh any way, I got over a 200 3Dmark03 bump up in score.  I was happy with it and wanted to share.

Thanks again everyone for your contribution to the Team Competition!!
It was fun and exhausting, and I love how much some of you put into this (the addiction is real..).
I expect to see more subs on hwbot, now you all know what it's like 😄

It's mentally taxing, expensive, and consumes a ton of time...

but it's also kinda fun, so I'll see you in the Country Cup 🤣

Thanks for putting up prizes. I wasn't expecting to win anything but it's definitely appreciated (and will go right back into acquiring more hardware)
