I've had an A770 for a couple weeks now but still haven't had a chance to use it due to being out of town for work. Finally unboxing it tomorrow and will put it through it's paces.

The ARC card looks amazing for the price and it's just the start. I am excited about this GPU and I am looking to grab one as soon as it's available again. Anyone out there have one?

Hey bud, good to see you swinging by 🙂

No Arc here, admittedly I haven't intended in getting one  due to a lack of needing another GPU. Plus I'm wasn't hugely impressed by what I was seeing, BUT this is early outings for Intel on this product range. I did see some articles stating their have been driver improvements that have yielded better results.

At the moment its harder to tell the true "Performance Wall" of these GPU's as no doubt the driver infancy is leaving performance locked away, but in time that will change.

Just look AMD. Their drivers left much to be desired and were holding them back for a long while. Fortunately they are in a much better position now. But those poor performing drivers helped hand Nvidia the crown every year.

Fingers crossed once they have the drivers down we get a clearer picture. However im under no illusions that Intel GPU hardware is any match for high end GPU's as of right now.

Finally got around to playing with this thing. Did the unboxing on the Discord and nobody joined 🤣

It actually scores higher than my RTX 2080 in Time Spy.

image.png.e04e3eb354934ea5845d241608835156.png

I loaded up the new CoD MW2 and let it set the recommended settings. Turned off upscaling and ran the in game benchmark which resulted in 86FPS average at 1080p. Enabled XeSS and it went up to 99FPS. Actually getting into a game it was hovering around 115-125.

For comparison that 2080 that gets slapped by the Arc in Time Spy pushes more FPS at a higher resolution (1440p) with a weaker CPU (10850k). So the Arc drivers still have a ways to go. I'm hoping this card will pull the AMD "fine wine" playbook and just get better and better as time goes on.

The Arc Control software allows you to monitor and adjust a few things. I haven't tried overclocking it yet but it has sliders for it. Oddly they don't allow you to adjust the fan curve. The fans seem to be on a pretty lax curve and don't ramp up very fast. The fans also have a zero RPM mode when you're just idling on the desktop. Even when they do spin up a bit, they are pretty quiet. What's not quiet  is the coil whine my card has.

I have more playing around to do but I like the card so far. It seems like it will be a nice card once it's better optimized.

The reviews have been interesting. Seems like intel in onto something, but their drivers are far far away from being good enough. It's interesting to seem them occasionally smashing rt benchmarks and then losing hard in stuff like csgo.

no regrets GIF

I think it's a cool card and I'm glad to see a 3rd horse in the GPU race. I have no regrets buying it as a spare GPU to tinker with. If I were a low budget gamer looking for max performance per dollar, the 6700xt for the same price makes way more sense.

Even after they get a grip on the drivers, this is still never going to to be anything more than a midrange card. I just want to see Intel say "YOLO let's make a 4090 competitor"

Honestly those benchmarks sound pretty promising considering their early early drivers so far on them.  I was saying the same thing about the lower end ARC GPU, forget the model number.  But its a solid comparison to the RX 6400.  These midrange cards are just as neat of a value (considering).  Glad you've got yours out and playing with it Flux!

I'm drinking the Kool-Aid myself.

My 3090 died playing Cyberpunk so I decided to pick up the A770 and check it out. Obviously it's not a contender for the top Nvidia cards, but it doesn't pretend to be either. I appreciate the value of this card right now but I really love that fact that it's getting noticeably faster every few weeks.

I have big plans in store for overclocking and I just picked up a second A770 so I can brutalize one and let it ride the lightning😄

Good to see you Mr!

The A770, so far as Nvidia GPU's, what is it comparable to ? Your Overclocking adventures with the A770 will these be public ? Would be good to see what you can push it too!

Looking good. Sounds like they keep improving the drivers which is only a good thing.

If I recall, they were around RX 6600 / RTX 3060 levels at 1080p when they first released. Maybe slightly better at 1440p. I wonder what they are now.
