I love seeing these pop up on Ebay. It is sometimes tempting to jump on it, but at $800 you are paying the "rarity" tax in my humble opinion. I would pay a certain amount for a good case but that's a stretch too far lol.

Well i understand  your point, but i paid back in 2017 for my SM8  650usd and 250 for shipping. So in my eyes the 800 usd for a SMA8 in gunmetal is a not that bad price as it bigger and in a wanted colour…. Just my opinion.

and once you have a caselabs case you understand what it is about…. Its incomparable with other cases… at least thats my feeling even today…

Don't get me wrong, I know they are quality cases, no doubt about that, and they are boutique and anything in that category always comes at a premium. I would love to get a CaseLabs case, perhaps once they are back in production they will be cheaper...though I reckon not by much.

There was a time when I would have been all over the SMA8 (of course after they closed). But these days, man that's just too big. Did Caselabs also do more mid-tower stuff that worked great for watercooling?

That said, I'd definitely pay the premium for an all aluminum case. Once loaded up with a loop and coolant, these steel cases are heavy. I've got to take it out to the balcony to blow out the dust, but man I am not looking forward to dragging it out there. 😂

Yes, yes they did and I hate that I sold it. The s8s is a great case for WC.

I am surprised that TH-10A is still up. I am so tempted. Don't need it and don't know where I would put it. Already have four CL cases but I have hoarding tendencies.

Somebody else please buy it so I don't. It is a killer deal. Heck, I just paid more than that to get a vintage steering wheel recovered. That also happens to be why I haven't already hit buy on this.

  • 4 months later...

Well... I just couldn't help myself.  I bought another CaseLabs case!  This is one of the most unique offerings I've ever seen.  I actually bought this a couple of months ago on eBay.

It is a S5 two tone grey exterior with white interior. It came with the following options and extra parts:

  • 3 different sets of doors, solid, ventilated, and windowed.
  • 3 different top panels, solid, ventilated, and extended ventilated.
  • Pedestal and it has both solid and ventilated flex bay inserts for the front as well as two rear panels, both solid and ventilated with fan mount.
  • 2  360 mounts in pedestal
  • 240 flex bay radiator mount for the front
  • 240/280 drop in mount on the top

Whenever I get around to building it in I'll probably use the configuration in the pics below, extended top with windowed doors.  What I like about having the two extra sets of doors is that if I ever decide to do some kind of wild mod to either the solid or ventilated doors and it doesn't work out I still have the windowed doors to use.

This case is totally stock, unmodified and in perfect condition except for one tiny chip in the middle of one of the solid doors.

The guy I bought it from did the most magnificent packaging job of anything I have ever purchased!  Shipped in three boxes one for the main case assembled, one for the pedestal with all the accessories and extra parts inside, and one with the extra panels.  Every piece was individually bubble wrapped.

It literally took me two evenings to unpack it all, and ended up filling multiple garbage bags of packing peanuts.  The only thing that I was wishing for is that it had a 360 drop in top rad mount, then I realized that I have one in my other S5 case if I really want to run a 360 rad in the top.

I love this color combination and will most likely keep the external panels the stock color rather than custom powder coat it.

I added yet another CaseLabs case to my collection!  I wasn't even looking for one this time.  Around the time CaseLabs shut down, so years ago now, I put a "search" into Craig's List for "CaseLabs".

I only ever got one hit and it was for a case I was not interested in, then I forgot about it until a new search came up for a S8 case in gunmetal.  As it turns out the guy lived like right on my way home from work and it was literally not even a mile out of my way!

So I stopped by with cash in hand not sure if I was actually going to buy it.  It had an extended top with dual 360 drop in mount as well as a 360 side mount for the lower chamber and no hard drive mounts.  I asked him why he was selling it, and he told me he was going back to air cooling.  He then proceeded to show me how there was not a scratch on the case or the windows, and it was not modified in any way, no extra holes or anything.  I could tell the guy was very proud of the case and was sad to let it go.

Get this the case already had three EK Coolstream PE 360mm radiators, three Nocua NF-A14 fans, and 11 Noctua NF-F12 fans installed which he included with the case!  I would have bought the case without the radiators and fans, so those were just a bonus!

Here's a few pics:

This is the last CaseLabs case I buy... I swear!

Interesting, when I got the TX10-D it could only be ordered in black or gunmetal at the time.

If I remember correctly they at first did not offer the two tone option, after doing it for awhile they stopped offering that option, then later brought it back again due to popular demand.
