So I hooked it up and got P0172 System Too Rich 

 

Picked up another engine air filter in case the old one had an issue or something and cleared the code. Will go from there.

Had to return the tactical light; it didn't pass muster. I'll order something different.

 

 

Not sure what light you had, but the StreamLight TL-Racker is great if you have a Mossberg 500/590 or a Remington 870.

I had the Streamlight 69889 TLR-1 HL. It definitely put out a lot of light, but its battery compartment cover was a very weak link (fell apart as soon as I took it off).

 

I replaced it with the green dot version of what follows, which I'm very happy with thus far:

Surefire makes really good gear, and does it right here in the USA. That's a great choice.

Well the good news is I switched out the engine air filter, cleared the code, and so far the check engine light hasn't kicked again and things seem to be running fine as far as I can hear/feel.

 

No idea what was wrong with the old filter, I changed it earlier this year and it didn't seem clogged or anything. I guess if the CEL kicks again will move onto checking the sensors.

You might want to make sure that code is cleared using your reader; just because the light is out, doesn't necessarily mean the code has been cleared from the computer. i've got a code that's been stuck in the computer now for a number of years, but doesn't trigger the light.  my truck still passes inspection annually though because NY apparently allows one uncleared code (per my mechanic ).

Oh I cleared it with the reader and I checked it again today and no code is registering.

you gotta drive for a while before it throws a code again. how long depends on the actual CEL but it's usually 50+ miles.

 

when my Silverado had misfire issues from a worn distributor gear I could clear the code and drive for ~100 miles before the CEL came back (and no CEL = no codes to read). that was despite being able to hear it miss the entire time. 

 

you can watch STFT/LTFT or AFM/AFR in real time to see if there's an issue without a CEL but you're going to need a fancier tool for that

finally broke down and purchased a proper USB hub to mount on my desk side, and a hopefully not fake flash drive to store my family videos/pics on to keep with me in case something bad happens.  The hub has already arrived and works better than I expected for a cheap hub.  I was using a USB extension cable hot glued to the side of the desk LOL, was a horrible solution, flash drives would just randomly disconnect... now they work properly.

Yeah that was my thought as well. Plus EVGA has yet to release a new official BIOS for 14th gen, so made that decision easy.

 

Next, I will at some point need to get a good DDR5 kit, but thinking December or January for that. Maybe see if any deals come up for Black Friday / Cyber Monday.
