Oh yours runs on BATTERIES! I didn't catch that part! That's actually super useful. The Metro ones plug in, they're literally a backwards vacuum lol. Very very powerful. I'd be interested in seeing a comparison, I might grab one of those after Christmas, just so I can have the attachments (mine are all missing now after ~15 ish years).

[Giveaway Closed] Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (Ubisoft Connect)
pio replied to Slaughtahouse's topic in PC Gaming
I'll be honest, I've not seen too many James Cameron films. I have seen Titanic and Avatar (the first one only). Out of those 2, I'd say Titanic, because c'mon......who didn't like the painting scene? Amirite fellas? Nah, but seriously, Titanic was actually a really engaging story regardless of it being a "chick flick" or not. I thought he did a great job with that movie. Avatar was also a fantastic storyline, and had the visuals to back it up too. I do need to sit down and rewatch Avatar and the new one, see if its any good. Also, been looking at this game for a while now. I'd like to get a copy anyway, it looks like it MIGHT be the closest thing to Crysis multiplayer in 2023. Looks like a fun game. So yes, please........count me in. -
Just a cheaper version of the same one I've been using for like 15 years. Good ol' Metro Datavac. They really are worth their pricetag. I can't say about the cheap ones like you linked, but the Metro branded ones are freaking tanks and last forever. Amazon.com WWW.AMAZON.COM

Alright, just put a brand new coat of beige onto this old box that I ordered like 2 years ago from Russia. System was $50 shipped, all the way from Russia! It had a Socket 7 mainboard in it (with the AT / serial keyboard / mouse plugs, no USB etc). I believe it had a K6 500 in it, which I'll just downclock to like 200MHz. This is going to be my last and FINAL build for the collection. I do have some repairs to do on 2 of the systems, my FX rig seems to have a major problem of some kind. And also, I have a crossfire Skt 939 system that needs recapped. Otherwise, this was the oldest I was wanting to go. Stay tuned, I'm really hoping early next year I'll be able to start the actual fun with these..........enjoying them! Anyway, for now, enjoy watching the paint dry. It's what I did the last 2 days.

AMD is kind of playing damage control a little bit here, claiming it doesn't automatically damage warranty. Which that's good news. I'm still curious why they think this is required anyway. I really doubt the number of overclocked parts they get in for warranty repair would require this type of attention and control. Although an argument can also be made that the Ryzen series has kind of not really benefited much from overclocking anyway with PBO and go settings being so good (same probably also for Intel lately). Idk, this probably isn't good news for enthusiasts in the long run.

We can go ahead and remove the MasterBox Q300L off from my name. That wasn't ever my rig, it was just in the house lol. It's no longer in my house now, its owner finally took it home.

Woohoo!!!! Let's goooooo EHW!!!!

Best practice is to wait until whatever you've ordered is actually in your hands before you review something. I can completely understand the gripe about the packaging, absolutely! But they got them to you, safely, and early. That's worth some credit. I'd have knocked a star off 4/5, for sure, for the packaging gripe. Good packaging is an absolute MUST and it drives me bonkers too when things just show up in a bag. Also, the shipping thing that was your original complaint, I've seen that time and time again buying junk on ebay. The first time I saw a seller doing that, printing the label and sitting on it for days, it drove me bonkers too. Thing is though, USPS doesn't always scan packages like they're supposed to either so the tracking gets updated. I'm glad you got your switches, and that they came in safely. Now let's quit our complaining and get to modding, eh?

The "cleaner" look is exactly what threw me off of 11. Same reason why I hated Windows 8 (why a lot of people did). Thankfully for Windows 8/ 8.1 utilities came out to correct the problem. Windows 11 honestly functions fine. I have no complaints about its performance. If anything, I'd ALMOST be willing to admit 11 might even be a tad faster than 10. The GUI changes were just too drastic and annoying to deal with for me. On the same topic of GUI changes, turning off all of the spying features of Windows was also a chore on 11 vs 10. It's possible, but it shouldn't be this cumbersome and clunky. Windows 11 is embracing all new GUI changes in a LOT of ways, but then......the control panel is still from Win9x days like always. It's inconsistent at best with its GUI.

So wait a second. They claimed you'd have them by Monday. Here it is Saturday and you got them early, 2 days early. But.....you left a 1 star review because of the late shipping? I'm confused. Honestly, shipping the switches in a tin I'd think would be a wonderful way to do it. Now you have a collector's tin, you can repurpose the tin for other switches or well, whatever you want. This was why I was trying to tell you on Discord to just chill and wait a bit. I've had that delay happen a ton with ebay purchases. Sometimes the tracking does that, where it gets stuck for a few days. It's also pretty regular business practice to give smaller companies 3-5 business days for processing of orders. Not everybody is Amazon and can get your order sent out IMMEDIATELY next day unfortunately, as impatient as we all are.

I'm glad you guys got that all worked out. I wasn't folding, but was seeing some of the drama popping up. I do agree with our team members. The comment, while possibly made in jest, sure, was a tad distasteful. I can 100% understand how it could've been taken badly, by ANY member of our team. Firedfly had produced over a billion points for LTT, which directly helped their team. 11th place on a competition, with a team of YOUR size, and then somebody bad mouths the efforts. It was a low class move. With that said, again......I'm VERY glad you guys got that all sorted out. Let's keep the trash talking DURING the event next time maybe, huh? We, here at EHW can certainly understand some playful banter and trash talking. So long as everyone involved KNOWS that its just banter, then its harmless.

Isn't that why there's going to be a 4090-D? I think that was what I read / saw about that. I don't remember where I heard that though.

Yeah I'm good there. I'll stick to a de-junked Windows 10. If MS decides to pull the plug, there's always Linux now thanks to Steam's big push on there with the Steam Deck. Windows 11, I already didn't like very much due to the changes they made between that and 10. If they're dumping AI directly into the OS, definitely count me out. Don't need it, don't want it. Sorry Ultra, I know you and I differ on that. It's just my opinion on it, that's all. To be honest, I'd rather run Windows 8, Vista, or ME. With all of that said, and I mean this, I'll certainly give it a try. I always do with every Windows release. If it ends up being the bee's knees, I may keep it. Depends on how Microsoft actually goes with it.

It's Rockstar. It's GOING to be delayed. PC release? Expect at least a year later. Did we not learn our lessons with GTA IV, GTA V, and RDR2? I know I did, and I'll go ahead and say it. I will not be buying this one. I want to want it, I do. I love the GTA franchise. But Rockstar's burned me too many times.

CPS - The New Bully on the PC Playground - Review Discussion
pio replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Review Discussions
@Guest ML04: I'm not the builder here, but it LOOKS like @Mr. Fox ran the cables from a hole behind the motherboard, and then out the side and used the fans themselves along the bottom of the case to hide the wires maybe? There's usually enough clearance between the motherboard and the tray, USUALLY to hide basic front panel wires and let them sneak out from under the motherboard where they belong. Regardless, I'm sure Mr. Fox will respond soon. -
I'll run my 6900XT on PCIe 1.0 x16 with a Socket 939. Don't tempt me bro..... I definitely wish you'd have taken some recordings man, this would've been interesting information. PCIe 3.0 x4 is basically PCIe 1.0 x16 in terms of bandwidth capabilities.

If there's a VPN that'll work, by all means. I just know my Speedify VPN service that I use, I can hop around to all sorts of different servers. Honestly, gaming over it.....it works fine on some games, other games it doesn't. It also does seem like it 100% depends on what server I'm connected to as well. Example, I can use my "Seattle 1" server, and most websites and even a lot of games work fine over Seattle 1. I switch to Seattle 2 or 3, and I start getting captcha's, websites not working, and gaming not going through at all. If you've gotten Forza to work over VPN before, then yeah try a different VPN. I can't really recommend one, as I tend to turn mine OFF for gaming since a lot of titles don't work over it. A lot DO work over it too though, as I'm sure you know. It really depends 100% on the VPN service and the server they use, from what I can personally tell. If a VPN server has been listed as abused, then it probably won't work. And unfortunately, VPN services tend to get abused by their users. Yeah, I recall. I wish there was another option for him, that's got to suck being stuck with restrictive internet like that.

CPS - The New Bully on the PC Playground - Review Discussion
pio replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Review Discussions
That's a LOT of review to go through. Dude, I don't know how you did that in the required time frame. Absolutely amazing. Am I the only one who was alarmed at first though reading about CPS being a bully on the playground on here? Very nice choice of headlines there....... I'd never heard of them as a PC parts company before. I'll definitely be on the lookout for their stuff next time I'm shopping, looks great! -
THIS ADVERT HAS EXPIRED!
- WANTED
- NEW OR USED
Please go check your basements, garages, or maybe dust off your attic access? 🤣 I have something I'm working on for the site, and I'm in need of some parts. Sooner I get the parts, sooner I get this project done. 🙂 It's going to be an article. Anyway, here's what I need, and I need it inexpensive. I'll be going to ebay January 1st for anything not acquired by then. 1. i7 3770 (non K) or similar equiv 4c + HT for a z77 board (already own board) 2. 1155 capable low profile cooler capable of a 3770, copper core Intel is fine 3. Warm colored cold cathode or LED lights, wanting a "retro" type glow color (suggestions, please PM me?) 4. White LED fans that match to fill a case 5. Green PCB expansion cards (sound, LAN, wifi, all I need at least 1x of) 6. Copper heatsinks (all copper, for visuals, mostly for the green PCB expansion cards above but could use optional CPU, chipset and VGA) 7. 2x 2TB ish HDD's (will accept a RAID pair, SSD, or even NVME, budget is the name here though, definitely in need of storage in general for these) 8. PCI bracket on / off switch with wiring? You used to see these offered a lot 20 years ago with aftermarket coolers. This isn't for my personal collection, granted I'll be keeping it with my collection when done. Literally just putting something together to write about for the site lol. I do have everything on hand to build / write what I'm thinking here............BUT, adding these last few items will absolutely PERFECT what I'm thinking here. You guys will see when I get it written ;). EDIT: Updated listing. I do have a few of the things still not marked off, but I'm not 100% sure they're going in the final builds yet. Lights I'm working on, but not 100% on, green sound card but not sure if it'll work, still missing a few hdd's, and an easier on / off switch than what I bought already (regular toggle, will need drilled somewhere).1.00 USD

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 49-inch Curved Mega-Wide Gaming Monitor Review
pio replied to Barefooter's topic in Hardware News
Mine's not OLED, but still a 49" 5120x1440 / 120 Ultrawide. Do not recommend unless you're ONLY gaming on it (and games that support it). Productivity, multiple monitors is still king. OLED..........honestly, probably better suited for film I'd think? Yeah, OLED is amazing for gaming (I've seen some of the screenshots you OLED users have put out). I just really don't see THIS particular monitor as being a good buy though.
