Been working on tuning timings for my b-die DDR4 for the AMD DDR4 comp. Its weird though, I have much better timings then what my Hynix kit had, but got a worse score, so I am going to keep tweaking and see where that goes. Stock vs stock it was marginally better score at 3733//1866 (I seem to hit a wall with 3800/1900 fclk sadly). But I think I can go further with this, and haven't touched the primaries much yet.

Any updates @Sir Beregond?
I still need to do my AMD's and I'm looking forward to copying some of your settings 😂

I was finally able to do the dual RX590 run.

Also a fun fact, I finally found the Nitro+ twin today.
So by the time that shows up I can run that pair in crossfire and try to get better clocks as the Gigabyte one is sort of in between the RX590 Nitro+ and the RX580..

I was looking at fans and such this week for review and going to be doing some more testing this weekend as I'll have to do a slight teardown. Hope to maybe do some more DDR4 tuning this weekend as well. My last run was only marginally better than what I have submitted, so still working on it.

Alright, RE-ran the 3dmark runs because I didn't have URL's included in them...... :sozo:

While I was at it, I also ran the GDDR6 comp / Timespy on my 6900XT.  🙂

@UltraMega, any chance you can get your RAM / IF clock up higher?  Maybe a little higher CPU boost or something too?  My Ryzen 3600 got really really close to your 5800x run.  I'd run my 5800x that's at 4.7 with DDR4-1967 1:1 IF Clock, but that'll knock us out of the 6 core run with my 3600 since each person can only have one submission per category.  And we need 6c / 8c / 12c / 16c runs in there. 🙂

Only reason I'm asking, we're SOOOOO close to 1st place in the Stage 4 AMD CPU section. :wheee:

I pushed my 5900X as far as I could on that one...if you are talking about the CPU Profile Max one.

Yup that's the one.  My Ryzen 3600 did 5336.  @UltraMega with a 5800x did a score of 7729.  I feel like there's room for improvement there, possibly enough to take us to 1st place.  But if I run my 5800x, it cancels out my 3600 run, and nobody else has ran a 6 core yet. -_-

Well, I haven't done any real tweaking to my 5800x because for one there is no real motivation to do it at 4K and two, I just really don't know much about tweaking ryzen. I don't think my ram is samsung b-die either. It's stock 3200mhz 16-16-16-36 and I used to have it at 3600mhz 16-17-16-36 and that made my multicore score go up but my single core score went down just slightly, so I just went back to default ram settings and haven't really tried tweaking beyond that. But also, I have a 3600x PC and I could just submit a score for that if you wanna do your 5800x.

How much would I need to improve my score for it to matter?

We're like 500-600 points behind 1st place.  I'm not sure exactly to be honest.  When I was running my 3600, it seemed almost like 100Mhz extra was about 100 points extra.  So it'd probably take an all core run at 4.7GHz or so is my GUESS on an 8 core part to get us near there.  I could be wrong though.

And hey, at least you ran it!  Every score helps.  Even if I ran and beat your 5800x run, if my run was disqualified for whatever reason, yours would still count kind of thing.

Not particularly. There are guides for PBO/CO which can be good for daily use, I found this video very helpful to just understanding the terminology and concepts behind PBO. Zen 3 benefits a lot from undervolting which can actually enable higher clocks/boosts which is vastly different from my older Intel chip overclocks which were set a number, bump voltage if needed, test. LOL.

That said, for the specific benchmark CPU Profile Max, I got my best scores foregoing PBO and instead getting the max all core OC I could. That's as simple as setting the core ratio number, and adjusting voltage.

Just wanted to share that I busted out the older gear today. 🙂 Not the best of scores, but my motherboard absolutely sucks on this build.  IF I have time, IF......I might bust out the A8N32-SLI Deluxe with this RAM to give it a proper go.  Probably not though, I still have AMD CPU's to bench like I promised, and apparently DDR4 to bench, and I could probably give the DDR2 bench a go too.

Was nice to meet a few of you in the discord today, sorry I'm not the gamer girl you thought I was 😂

Unfortunately, most of the HWBOT categories seem to have some sort of requirement that excludes most of the stuff I have laying around.

Currently my plans are bench the 11600k in the Intel CPU DDR4 category, Run 460s in the Nvidia GPU 400 series SLI, and run my 7970s in the AMD GPU GDDR5 category.

So I need another 460, and an AM3+ platform.

I did find a few things on the ole ebay. Also found a PC on FB marketplace with an FX-9590 and Asus crosshair v formula that the seller is possibly open to parting out but it's an hour drive from here and I'm lazy...

image.png.c2c041abb5c2efc5d0fc3bc29585dfa8.png

Performance PCs actually still has the same Bitspower block that I have on my current 460, but not really in the mood to spend more than the GPU on a block. Started digging around in the closet and dug up an EK-VGA Supreme HF and a new acrylic top for it! Has that typical EK quality nickel plating but looks pretty fresh with the new top.

I was never enough of a bro to wear the "tough guys wear pink" tee shirt, so this was the best I could do.🤔 I COULD polish that thang up, but considering it's going to be used for a day then go back into a box for possibly years, I'll just run her as is

Idk if that was @ me or somebody else that was in the chat today.  My apologies, I was busy trying to get that stupid old rig working right.  Normally I am more talkative.  That and lack of coffee didn't help a whole lot.  Woke up actually groggy feeling today.  -_-  I don't care who you are or what you look like.  Respect is respect. 🙂

And why, WHY is everyone scoring 9590's these days?  I'm sitting here with a junk 8350. -_-  /me pulls up ebay

If you're going to be remotely serious about AM3+, the 9590 is a good bet just because 5GHz stock clocks.  And obviously I don't need to talk up the Crosshair......  But it does look like you're "winning" with a good 8350 setup too.  Same setup I'm running, so me and you will be head to head. 😛  I have Ripjaws for RAM though.  If you torture it with enough volts, 5GHz+ should be attainable with the 8350.  Maybe more if you get a good one and if you water cool it, which you probably will.

Any tips or tricks mate?  I can't seem to pass 1966 on my 5800x without using a heavy divider on the IF clock.  Does benching actually get better with dividers or is 1:1 still the best method?  I've never tried getting my 4000 sticks to go higher since I've never even ran them at 4000.

Well you are stuck with the 12nm GF IO die on Vermeer, so you'll never get the 1:1 clocks like you see on my Cezannes. But don't fret, 1966 is very good , andI can't even run that fast on my 5800x. Just try tuning timings now. Try adding some base clock up to 104 or whatever the threshold is before PCI bus downgrades itself.

Had some problems with the B-die kit over the weekend and wasn't booting even after some CMOS resets. No idea what happened, but re-seated the RAM and then it worked. Hadn't touched it at all so not sure what happened there, but will need to dial in the settings again. I have a list of stable timings so will start there.

One good side effect of all of this unstable overclocking while trying to benchmark is that I was able to find a really good stable clock for my 4x8GB Ballistix Micron E DDR4-3600CL16. For 24/7 it's running at 4300CL16 now. I've not had that much agility of RAM since DDR3-2400CL9.

Idk if that was @ me or somebody else that was in the chat today.

if you water cool it, which you probably will.

A certain 🥑 was just messing with me... Or at least I think he was. Maybe he really did think I was a girl. Either way it had nothing to do with you. I also wasn't very talkative since I was at a concert the night before and didn't get to bed until after 4am... Was still a bit hungover when I got on discord 😅

Considering everything I own besides my Plex server and  NAS are liquid cooled, I'd say you're probably correct 😎

No worries! 🙂  I came in late to the party as usual, and as I said, I wasn't all that attentive or talkative because of....per usual, my own screw ups. -_-

Still can't believe I messed up my Ryzen 3600.  I still haven't gotten around to pulling the CMOS yet to fix it.

Yeah, your rigs are pretty sweet. 🥰

No, I really did Broham. All I had to go off of without hearing your voice and seeing your face was your forum name and choice of rig aesthetics. Not that it matters in the slightest, but you had me fooled. Also, the "Daddy chill" didn't help your case much 🤣

Prior to rebranding myself as Fluxmaven I went by SirT0astAlot 🤣 May have left less room for confusion, but glad I moved away from that.
