I remember saying to @Avacado that 2 GPU's was the max I would get for the competition....

@Fluxmaven when is that AA meeting again?

I think you got me beat with GPU's this time. I already had a ton of DDR3 and 2. I got you beat on everything else though. I'll have to take a pic this weekend. We do have a problem for sure my friend. I love that you managed to get boxes for all your MOBO's, I was not so fortunate.

@Bastiaan_NLdon't mind that green fruit; he suffers from ocd (unlike you and me, myself, and HAL 9000). 🤪

also, been less than busy lately coz a buddy of mine lost his dad (who was a little younger than me), who was also his Rock of Gibraltar; hence, there's been a lot of introspection this past week at my end. i do still plan on completing the 2080ti run before time's up though.

just need to get out and pick up six gallons of distilled.

While cleaning the dust off of a never used in my possession GTX 460 1GB Hawk Twin Frozer GPU, the dark side managed to make me break 5 fan blades off one of the two fans 😕

I'm performing the Super Glue surgery atm.  Hopefully the card is good after all this.  I'd hate to plug it in to find a DOA card after doing the cleaning and fan surgery.  I need little Yoda's power right about now.

why not just de-shroud and zip tie on a couple of (better) fans onto it? 🙃

I don't think that way LOL.  Come to think of it, that's not a bad idea if I had a couple of better fans laying around.  Not about to go hosing other hardware for this one LOL 😛

Edit:  Super glue is drying.  The glue should not throw the fan out of balance too much.

We need at least a 7970 x2 run (with AM3+ platform), or probably preferred a RX480, RX570, RX470, 290(x), depending on what cards anyone may have laying around crossfire run.  Something strong dual GPU GDDR5 on AM3+, and AMD GPU's that's NOT RX 590's or RX 580's.

Any takers?  @Fluxmaven  I don't know who else would have an AM3+ setup and GDDR5 AMD cards laying around. -_-

I'd buy some RX 570's and run them myself, but I've already done the 580's.  Somehow we went from 1st in that category down to third because we only have the 2 runs. 😕

I literally bought the AM3+ setup so I could run my 7970s. IDK if I'll get to that this weekend. I have a 2700k + SLI 460 setup on the bench currently.

Don't worry Jan, being there for your buddy is way more important than running a 2080Ti for a benchmark.

So I tore the place apart looking for a damn SLI bridge that would fit... Could not find any of the little single row ribbon ones. Tried some redneck engineering with no success.... So looks like I'm doing the GTX 460's next weekend while I wait for a bridge and running the 7970s

Good plan. 👍

5.4GHz+ on the FX and 1300+ on the 7970's should do nicely, assuming you can squeeze that much out of everything. :lachen:

Let's see if we can get enough people and junk running to get 4th place! :wheee:

Ok I got the two gtx460's running in SLI but I can see little to no usage on the second gpu while monitoring them in Afterburner as well as in Heaven.  I get the same score in sli or non sli mode 😕  Don't know what's going on.

I might join in.  I'll take a look through the thread and see what we need to run.  Off the top of my head, I think I could do Quad 7970s or Dual on some wickedly high clocking 290s.

I'll mess around with a stripped down Windows 7 install tonight, and then see what I can get up and running over the next week.

Stupid question, but was it showing as 'SLI enabled' in nvidia control panel?
I had mine running pretty good on a 4770k with a bit of an overclock and it was loading both cards. If you need live help or whatever hop on discord, usually I'm there with @Avacado as much as we can so you can always ask questions there (and some other guys too). I hope you can get it working so you can battle it out with @Fluxmaven 😄

If you happen to have an AM3+ setup (FX), we could REALLY use the pair of wicked high clocking 290's to join up with my RX 580's and Bastain's 590's.  Link below for the rules on that particular bench.

Ebay sells some IDE to SATA converters that'll get you going with a SSD no problem on Socket 754. 🙂  Just an example is linked below, but they're regularly under like $9 or so shipped.
